Amazon Web Services is a subsidiary of Amazon providing on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments, on a metered pay-as-you-go basis. Amazon Web Services offers reliable, scalable, and inexpensive cloud computing services. Although we only used Amazon's services for very simple code to display one message, the potential with this website seems endless. The fact that the service is completely open and available to the anyone, even the ordinary consumer. I also find it fascinating that the service could be used by governments. In conclusion, Amazon Web Services is a service for cloud computing that could revolutionize cloud computing for generations to come.

This week we made a level based plat former on GameSalad. GameSalad is a game development platform that allows anyone to create games with their personalized programming interface. It’s also a great way to introduce programming concepts, game design, and digital media creation to students. It's fairly easy while still being challenging enough to learn about game design and programming. To make this game we had to construct levels and use built in sprites for the main character and enemies along the way. The objective of each level is to make it to the key at the end, which is labeled. Then we inserted outside images and gave them properties like the spikes for obstacles. Also, we ran into a problem where mobile devices weren't able to play because there were no touch controls. So, we inserted pictures of arrows that resembled buttons, and assigned them properties that make the character move, in addition to the arrow keys.
This week we went over music in apps like garage band and discussed the significance of copyright in music. Music plagiarism is the use or close imitation of another author's music while representing it as one's own original work. Plagiarism in music now occurs in two contexts, with a musical idea, like melody, or sampling. An App like garage band is very useful to make original music especially because of there "smart" features. This lets you play instruments without actually having experience. Additionally, Garage Band supplies many different loops that you can put into your songs with a press of a button.
This week we got a presentation from Yanti Arifin, User Experience Designer at Desktop Metal. Desktop Metal exists to make 3D printing accessible to all Engineers, Designers, and Manufacturers. Desktop Metal is reinventing the way engineering and manufacturing teams produce parts, from prototyping through mass production. Desktop Metal believes 3D printing will change the way parts are designed, manufactured, and sold around the world. I really believe that Desktop Metal and 3D printing metal is a thing of the future. Although I believe that Desktop Metal is an invention of the future, there are some slight problems that can be improved upon. First, the price, their smallest unit is priced at $3,500 a year. This price is just not realistic for the average consumer that maybe wants to build on a smaller scale or level. With that being said, I am confident that Desktop Metal will improve in the coming years and become a common sight to see in use in businesses around the world.
We happened to get a chance to use the DJI Mavic Drone, specifically the handsfree mode. This mode is very interesting and shows how advanced technology has become. This mode lets you completely take control of the flight of your drone simply using hand gestures. First, you set your drone down on a flat surface and back up and put your hand out. Now, horizontally, where ever you gesture your hand the drone will follow. When you want the drone to fly upwards simple put your hand up and put it will go up, put your hand back to the normal position to have it stop flying up. Also, you can put both of your hands out and together and spread them out to make the drone fly away and bring them together to make the drone fly towards you. Also, when in this mode the drone will follow you wherever you go. I found this mode to be very fun and fascinating to observe what drones could do without some controller or piece of technology in general controlling it.
This week we remade one of the first computer games, Pong. We made this using a software named Ready Maker. Ready maker is a very simple and easy to use software that you can create games from scratch. I would recommend Ready Maker to anyone looking to start game design and/or programming. The software allowed you to add various components and have them react how you like, for example, we made the platforms on each side controlled by the arrows on the users keyboard. Furthermore, you can alter the physics how you would like, which we utilized when editing the ball. Also, the simple functions in the game were phenomenal, we even added a functioning scoreboard. Lastly, we finished up our game by adding graphics, you can do various things with graphics, but personally, I made the ball a soccer ball and the background a soccer field. You can get very creative with this and do some awesome things.
